The regional government has authorized direct grants to public universities in the region to assist in the construction and equipment of scientific and technological infrastructures in the Parque Tecnológico de Fuente Alamo, to enable the transfer of results and their application to production processes of enterprises technology within the framework of the Science and Technology in the Region 2007-2010.

The funding of these infrastructures and facilities, which total budget is 800,000 euros, 544,000 euros of which correspond to the University of Murcia and 256,000 euros to the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, is intended to build research, dissemination and transfer technology and knowledge and their equipment, to increase synergies between universities and business.

These grants will be compatible with other aid, income or resources for the same purpose, from any authorities or public or private, national, EU or international bodies.

The creation and development of infrastructure for technological innovation by public universities in the Region in the Parque Tecnológico de Fuente Alamo, to enable the transfer of results and their application to production processes of technology companies, is an important step increase the competitiveness of these public research centers.

And strengthen their role as agents of the regional Science, Technology and Innovation, allowing further quality research tailored to the needs of the knowledge society and the demands of the productive sectors, with the indisputable benefit that for society as a whole and for the regional economy in the medium and long term.

The Alamo Source Technology Park is a limited company which aims to develop and promote a technology park, being actively involved in developing the capacity of R & D + I in the Region of Murcia, as an agent of the Science, Technology and Innovation for the implementation of the Science and Technology Region of Murcia 2007-2010.
