Complete works to improve road safety and a new cycle in the crossing of Fuente Alamo (23/03/2011)

The firm has been renewed, extended platform and created a parking area, while it has built a bike path

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, together with the Mayor of Fuente Alamo, María Antonia Conesa, today inaugurated the work carried out on the journey of the municipality (T-602) to improve road safety and promoting sustainable mobility with the construction of a new cycle.

"This is an action that aims to meet the needs of both drivers and pedestrians and bicycle users, as it has done a replacement of the pavement and extending the platform, improving traffic conditions and grip the road vehicles and the construction of a bike lane, for promoting healthy and sustainable mobility in the municipality, "said regional government responsible.

In particular, the section on which it has acted includes 2.4 kilometers of road length RM-602 (from Cartagena to Los Muñoces) between the area of ​​Four Winds to access Reyllo Caves.

The work has received funding of 326,873 euros autonomous.

In the area that gives access to the neighborhood of San Jose has made an extension of the roadway to facilitate left turns, with the commissioning of a third lane, and the construction of a parking area side.

At the intersection leading to the village of Cuevas de Reyllo has been done by the bridge over the ravine, a roundabout sort of movement to be one of the most densely populated areas of the town traffic.

In this way, you get access to adjust the different directions, such as the urban core rounds of Fuente Alamo, caves or to the highway Reyllo Alhama de Murcia Campo de Cartagena (RM-2).

Also, it has built a 800-meter bicycle lane on the right side of the crossing, a two-meter width and delimited by a double curb, which connects the urban and the new sports hall of Four Winds, and serves as a link between two existing lanes for cycling in the town.

Works in the Plaza de San Agustín

During his visit to Fuente Alamo, José Ballesta also visited the Plaza de San Agustin, where the Ministry of Public Works and Planning funded the works are running to make available to all residents a large public space in downtown the municipality.

This space will be chaired by the parish of St. Augustine, one of the oldest churches in the region, declared World Heritage.

In this way, the project exalt the architectural value of this Baroque church of the sixteenth century, recently restored and in the process to be declared of Cultural Interest.

"The new square will articulate the heart of Fuente Alamo and, in addition to the Church on this space are located elements concerning the life of this town, as the town hall or traditional stores," said Minister of Public Works and Regional Planning.
