Select region iUnika laboratory for next-generation computer processors (16/11/2010)

The Minister of Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marin, filed today with the chief executive of technological corporation 'iUnika, Ángel Blázquez, this project leader in R & D to launch a laboratory for art computer processors generation in the Parque Tecnológico de Fuente Alamo.

The company's investment in its first phase in the region is two million, expandable to nine, and will create 31 highly skilled jobs, mainly experts and students from the University of Murcia and Cartagena University, related with the development of hardware and software.

In fact, the company has already started its business with six employees on the premises of the Technology Transfer Center at the University of Murcia in the Technology Park, a center of higher education which has already signed a collaboration agreement.

Marin said, "This is another project that has chosen the region for its implementation through administrative flexibility provided by the Plan for Attracting Investment and the work done to have world class infrastructures, such as Park technology and highly qualified human capital trained in our universities, with a clear example of business relations, and research universities. "

In his two years of operation, the corporation 'iUnika' has worked in the technology field developing solutions and unique and versatile devices, designed to meet the growing demand for freedom and flexibility of technology users.

Recently, 'iUnika' reached an agreement with MIPS Technologies, a leading wholesale company in processor architecture present in most popular products in the field of consumer electronics, such as broadband devices from Linksys, entertainment systems Sony, Pioneer DVD recorders, Cisco routers, laser printers from Hewlett-Packard and a wide range of smartphones.

Microchips Lab
