The Alamo Source Moroccan women learn Spanish (05/11/2010)

With the aim of promoting social integration of the immigrant in the town of Fuente Alamo, the Department of Social Policy of the City Council has organized an "introduction course Castilian and Spanish culture" within the Strengthening Education Program for Immigrants 2010.

Currently, a total of 15 Moroccan women, with very basic knowledge of the language, participate in this course.

Programming content includes learning the alphabet, vocabulary, verb conjugations and learn how to communicate in most everyday situations of life such as shopping, doctor appointments or meeting with your child's teacher at school .

This course will conclude in early December and is taught Monday through Friday, by a Moroccan teacher whose long experience in Spain will help you understand the different communication needs of these students.

But this is not the only activity conducted by the Department of Social Policy in favor of social integration, education and culture of immigrants as part of the town of Fuente Alamo.

From January to October 2010, 3592 have carried out actions aimed at strengthening education for immigrants under the guidance and support to students enrolled, translation services, scholarships and grants, among others.

In the area of Home and Social Integration, the number of times by this council, with support from the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Migration in the Region of Murcia, amounts to 2,813.

Noting, among other actions, the creation and management of a stock of housing counseling service on existing health resources, as well as conducting various workshops exchanges.

All this, backed by a team of professionals, social and health mediators sensitized with this population.

Currently, Fuente Alamo de Murcia consists of 17,589 inhabitants, of whom 6,009 are non-EU citizens from Morocco, Ecuador and Eastern Europe, among others.

"This figure demonstrates the need for further work by this group and its integration into our society to achieve the implementation of values education to help eliminate any problems of social exclusion, discrimination, maladjustment and school absenteeism," says Councillor for Social Policy, Ginés García Francisco Baños.
