[The Moroccan Immigrant Workers Association condemns the new case of labor exploitation (14/12/2020)

The Association of Moroccan Immigrant Workers ATIM expresses its condemnation and rejection of another new case of labor exploitation that comes to light in the Region of Murcia. ATIM salutes the National Police for the operation carried out in Fuente de lamo (Murcia) against labor fraud and to comply with the law in preventing and fighting against labor exploitation. The dismantling of this criminal organization camouflaged in a company in Fuente lamo that is dedicated to the export of second-hand clothes and directed by a father and his two children of Moroccan origin, exercised the semi -Labor slavery to a score of his fellow citizens taking advantage of their vulnerability and their situation of need to subject them to harsh working conditions. This situation shows that the tentacles of labor exploitation and the underground economy are installed in the Region of Murcia and it is not an isolated case, and apparently, it is a pr habitual ethic of a well-nourished group of the business fabric in the Murcia region regardless of the origin, nationality or ethnicity of the employer. To this end, we urge the Ministry of Labor to reinforce and intensify labor inspections and the government of the Autonomous Community of the Murcia region to promote the application and reinforcement of a policy of eradication of the economy.

submerged, launching the Plan against the irregular economy signed in 2012 and which is stored in the drawers of the current government. The situation has become unsustainable due to the extreme vulnerability that workers in the Region of Murcia suffer from the passivity of the authorities. At ATIM, we are committed to close cooperation with civil society organizations (immigrant associations, pro-immigrant organizations, social organizations), with the majority unions and with institutions, to say out loud enough to marginalization n, exploitation and discrimination. We demand a job in decent conditions so that the labor market does not deteriorate at the expense of vulnerable workers and so that unscrupulous exploiters do not continue reaping huge sums of profits at the cost of dividing workers and deregulating the labor market.
