| 166 national and international works participate in the XLVIII edition of the competition | Artists Mónica Dixon and Antonio García, better known as Nono, have been named winners of the Villa de Fuente Álamo 2020 International Painting Competition. This has been determined by the decision of the jury that has awarded the Villa de Fuente Álamo Prize to Mónica Dixon for the work 'In a silent way', and the Círculo Medina Prize to Antonio García for the work '15 instants'. With 166 works presented online, including internationals from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Uruguay and Venezuela; the first round of selection was held on June 24 where, after an individual vote by the jury, 41 works have been selected, moving on to a second round made on June 25.
In this second round, 23 selected works have entered the exhibition. The Mayor of Fuente Álamo, Juana María Martínez, pointed out that "it has been a very special edition, not only due to the rapid adaptation to the online model due to the Covid-19 crisis, but also due to the large number of works presented and the high number of women participation ". This XLVIII of the contest has had a jury made up of: Juana María Martínez, Mayor of Fuente Álamo, as president of the contest; and with the members José Antonio Oliver, councilor for culture for the City Council of Fuente Álamo de Murcia; José Celdrán, director of the contest Villa de Fuente Álamo International Painting Competition; Esteban Bernal, painter; Carmen Castillo, professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Murcia; Alfredo Cuervo, professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Murcia; and Juan José Martínez, plastic artist and winner of the 'Villa de Fuente Álamo 2019' award.
