Yesterday, the diocesan priest Juan Mendoza García died in the city of Murcia.
His mortal remains are veiled at the Rocamer funeral home in San Pedro del Pinatar and the funeral Mass will be celebrated today, at 5:00 p.m., in the parish of San Pedro Apostle of San Pedro del Pinatar.
Juan Mendoza was born in La Pinilla (Fuente Álamo) on February 23, 1943 and was baptized on August 6 of the same year in the parish of Our Lady of Monserrat in his hometown.
With 12 years he entered the San José Minor Seminary, where he completed the Baccalaureate, then passed to the San Fulgencio Major Seminary, where he studied Philosophy and Theology.
He was ordained a priest on June 28, 1967 in the parish of San Bartolomé-Santa María de Murcia, by Mons. Miguel Roca Cabanellas, Bishop of Cartagena.
After his ordination he held the following pastoral positions:
- 1967-1968: Coadjutor of the parish of San Joaquín de Cieza.
- 1968-1970: Cura rector of the parish of San Bartolomé de El Sabinar and in charge of the parish of San Juan Bautista de San Juan y Béjar.
- 1970-1972: Coadjutor of the parish of San José de Abanilla.
- 1972-1977: He lives in Madrid and there he is chaplain of the Red Cross.
- 1977-1977: Coadjutor of the parish of San Bartolomé-Santa María de Murcia.
- 1977-1981: Treasurer of the parish of San Roque de Cobatillas.
- 1978-1981: Chaplain of the National Police Corps of Murcia.
- 1980-1981: Arcipreste del Cabezo de Torres.
- 1981-1983: Treasurer of the parish of San Pedro Apostle of San Pedro del Pinatar and in charge of the parish of Our Lady of Carmen de Lo Pagán.
- 1983-1986: Rector of the San Fulgencio Major Seminary in Granada.
- 1986-1987: Parish priest of San Miguel Arcángel de Murcia.
- 1982-1992: Episcopal Vicar of the Suburban Pastoral Zone I.
- 1988-1990: Pastor of La Purísima de El Palmar and in charge of the parish of San Roque de El Palmar.
- 1990-1992: Chaplain of the Divine Teacher College of Murcia.
- 1992-1994: Parish priest of San León Magno de Murcia.
- 1991-1992: Director of the Priestly House.
