Villa Sustainable activities get their first certificates of 100% sustainable actions (08/02/2020)

The plantation of carrasco pine in La Pinilla and the Environmental Education Day surpass the demanding process of environmental audit prepared by Mareco obtaining the “CO2 Neutral” and “Sustainable Event” certificates that accredit them as environmentally friendly activities.

Both actions achieve this recognition for their sustainability parameters and the character of being carbon neutral obtained by the involvement of the inhabitants of Fuente Alamo, the reduction of plastics, the reuse of material, the sustainable mobility of the attendees or the use of light natural.

The activities of the Sustainable Villa Master Plan of Fuente lamo pursue environmental excellence from the outset and have overcome the demanding sustainability process with a note.

This has been possible thanks to the follow-up of Mareco, an environmental consultant specialized in sustainability controls that has verified and audited that, following the parameters based on regulations and the most demanding environmental regulations at international level such as the European EMAS Regulation and ISO 14001, ISO regulations 14064 specifies in terms of greenhouse gases and sustainable events such as ISO 20121, both actions are sustainable and carbon neutral.

Thanks to this fact, they already have the “CO2 Neutral” certificate, which accredits the 0 carbon impact, and “Sustainable Event”, which recognizes the sustainability of the action.

A control that has even led Mareco to inspect activities on site.

Both the Environmental Education Day and the plantation of carrasco pine as a CO2 sink developed in La Pinilla had a meticulous control procedure to eliminate, as far as possible, the negative impacts derived from its development.

A dynamic that will be repeated in each action carried out within the framework of the Sustainable Villa Master Plan in order to ensure that sustainable and therefore carbon-neutral actions are carried out, the main objectives of the Sustainable Villas Master Plan.

A project developed by Marevents Global Communication for the City of Fuente lamo and with the collaboration of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.

And it is that both activities carried out on Friday January 31 have achieved their respective certificates of 100% sustainable activities thanks to the very good results obtained in this verification process.

In order to assess and grant the certificates, as stated in the audit report, special emphasis has been placed on parameters such as: the means of transport used by those attending the event, the volume of material reused to carry it out, the reduction in the volume of plastics in the activity, the reduction of artificial light, noise, and sustainability objectives of the activities carried out.

For example, the Environmental Education conference held on the occasion of World Environmental Education Day has reduced carbon emissions to the environment to 0.

The achievement has been possible thanks to the meticulous organization and collaboration of the attendees.

The report shows that the activity achieved total sustainability by avoiding artificial lights and taking advantage of sunlight, minimizing noise, avoiding the use of plastics or attending the event on foot.

On the other hand, the plantation of carrasco pine as the first CO2 sink of Fuente lamo, in addition to being, in itself, a sustainable action to help improve the environment with a reduction of 67 tons of carbon dioxide, has been intended since the organization minimize the negative impact that could be generated by the assistants directly or indirectly.

For that reason the transfers of all the assistants in buses were made, and it was even promoted to walk from La Pinilla because of the proximity to the space.

Awareness work has once again borne fruit because it allowed minimizing car travel by generating a very low CO2 emission.

A carbon footprint that was more than compensated thanks to the plantation of carrasco pine that afternoon, achieving that the action, in addition to being sustainable, reached the neutrality of carbon emissions.

The basis of the calculation to grant these certificates is based on the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the current environmental regulation.

Communication campaigns aimed at reducing the negative impact on the environment and the promotion of social activities that include and involve all local groups have also positively influenced.
