The exhibition hall 'Ermita de San Roque' celebrates its fifteenth anniversary with multiple cultural activities (06/02/2020)

The exhibition hall 'Ermita de San Roque' celebrates this year the XV anniversary of its inauguration with a program of cultural activities in Fuente Álamo.

Under the name of 'Re-vision: 2004/2019', a series of events and a special exhibition of the catalogs that collect the most significant milestones of these first fifteen years of life of the exhibition hall will be developed.

The first event will take place this Friday, February 7 with a piano and soprano recital by Raúl Martínez Estéban and Anabel Merino Jiménez.

Next Thursday, February 13, we can attend the conference 'From San Roque to Havana' by Antonio Aznar Mínguez.

In addition, on Friday, February 21, the conference 'Poetics of the Earth' is organized by Martínez Cánovas and Hernández Barbero, moderated by the journalist Ariana Gómez;

and on Friday, February 28, the 'Creative Acts' conference will be held with the participation of Nicolás de Maya.

In this desacralized hermitage, cultural reference of the Region of Murcia, exhibitions of great painters, concerts, poetry, sculpture, photography, etc. have been held.

In the words of the councilor for culture of the municipality of Fuente Álamo, José Antonio Oliver: "San Roque is also an excuse for the public to meet leading artists from the Region and other communities, working from the Department of Culture to promote art and approve of contemporary creation, thus promoting culture. "

This fifteen-year journey began thanks to the personal commitment of the exhibition hall coordinator, José Celdrán Peñalver, alma mater of this successful cultural project that began on December 17, 2004 with an exhibition of ceramics and sculpture of two strongly linked artists a Fuente Álamo: Pablo de la Peña and Francisco Alarte, closing this tour in December 2019 the exhibition "Ex-votes" of the painter and sculptor Ceheginero Nicolás de Maya.

"From the Department of Culture we will continue to support all the contemporary artistic manifestations that have crowned our town as one of the reference locations in terms of good cultural work," said Oliver.

During this month a program of events will be launched, created on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary, with which the San Roque room wants to claim itself as an open place where it is spoken, discussed in colloquiums and meetings and shared knowledge: music, art, poetry.
