The City of Fuente �lamo, adhered to the programming of the Special Surveillance and Control Campaigns and Operations planned by the General Directorate of Traffic for the year 2020, will launch until February 7 a campaign dedicated to the control of School Transportation in which will be carried out inspections on vehicles (authorizations and documents, technical conditions and safety elements, belts and restraint systems) and on drivers (driving license, driving times and breaks), especially on conventional roads and urban roads .

From the 2007-2008 school year, all vehicles dedicated to school transport must meet the requirements set out in RD 443/2001 of April 27 on conditions of safety in school transport and minors.

It establishes various requirements such as the obligation for minors to be accompanied on the bus by a duly qualified person, the maximum age of the vehicles destined for this type of passengers, the unlimited civil liability insurance or the obligation to carry a signal of School transport, among others, of singular importance.

90% of the accidents that occur during school transport take place at the time of getting in or out of the vehicle, or in the immediate moments, and in many cases they are abuses caused by a distraction of the child, of the transport driver School or companions.

The Civil Guard Traffic Group, during the dates indicated above, will proceed to carry out the control of the school transport, which will give an idea of ​​the incidence of different factors in this type of transport.

Creating safe school roads that facilitate travel to school on foot, by bicycle or by public transport is one of the objectives of the Spanish Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020.

Therefore, the participation of the city council is vital in this campaign that will contribute, in addition to helping to reduce the number of injuries and deaths in traffic accidents, to have a more accurate idea of ​​the incidence and its evolution nationwide.
