The inhabitants of Fuente Álamo turn to the Carrasco pine plantation in the Majal de Gracia (01/02/2020)

The new CO2 sink of Fuente lamo has 250 young carrascos pines in the Majal de Gracia de La Pinilla (Fuente lamo), a unique space in the municipality that will absorb about 67 tons of carbon dioxide in its first 20 years of life .

A thousand people attend the Environmental Education Conference held in the Ronda de Poniente to become environmentally aware through activities based on the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Town Hall of Fuente lamo will carry out the maintenance of the plantation that aroused great interest from the inhabitants of the municipality with the participation of 200 people from all corners of the town.

The Municipality of Fuente lamo will ensure the correct development of the Majal de Gracia pine forest in La Pinilla after planting 250 young carrascos pines that join hundreds of other trees that already existed in the ecosystem of that place.

More than 200 people wanted to be part of the construction of the first CO2 sink in the municipality.

Together with the new Carrascos pines, the assistants, many of them children accompanied by parents and grandparents, laid stones to identify the planted tree forever.

This pioneering carbon dioxide sink will eliminate 67 tons of CO2 in the next 20 years, at which age this type of native species reaches adulthood.

A plantation that will meet other objectives such as preventing soil erosion by improving soil permeability minimizing the effect of torrential rains, in addition to acting as a refuge for native animal species in the area.

The success of participation started very early on Friday morning with the start of the monthly activities of the Sustainable Villa Master Plan, which will develop actions accessible every month to the public of Fuente Alamo and nearby towns on the occasion of global environmental days.

In the morning alone, more than a thousand people, mostly children and adolescents, enjoyed the Environmental Education Day created on the occasion of World Environmental Education Day in the Ronda de Poniente.

There, different actions based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were articulated and that helped attendees to learn by playing with recycling puppets, a circuit of sustainable mobility, the planting of an urban garden, participating in a gymnastic energy efficiency and responsible consumption, and even play with a giant Eco Oca.

Both initiatives are framed within the ambitious Sustainable Villa Master Plan designed and executed by Marevents Global Communication for the City of Fuente lamo and with the support of the Government of the Region of Murcia.

A pioneering initiative in the autonomous community of Murcia for being able to involve audiences of all ages: children, adolescents, parents, grandparents and neighbors of various municipalities.

The activities were supervised at all times by MarEco, Marevents brand responsible for minimizing the potential negative environmental impacts of these actions to leave a beneficial legacy for the villagers.

That is why they have already begun to plan the activities of the month of February, month of the Circular Economy, they will be destined to carry out activities related to World Wetlands Day and World Day for a Rational and Responsible Use of Energy.

Also very sectorized actions will be carried out in the educational centers of the municipality with workshops of Eco Design, Eco Art and the formation of youth Eco Patrols.

And it is that precisely these centers are a very important line of work within the objectives of the Sustainable Villa Master Plan of Fuente lamo for being conformed by children and youth population, which will be the ones that will enjoy the future environment.

Despite the initial success, the Sustainable Villa Master Plan aims to continue increasing its influence on the social conscience of the residents of Fuente lamo and nearby towns.

An example for the rest of the country's municipalities through a model that can be exported anywhere.

In this way, it aims to become Fuente lamo in the First Sustainable Villa of Spain.
