The rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), Felix Faure, visited the site of SABIC Innovative Plastics, La Aljorra, to attend the closing of the summer internship program in which students participated Polytechnic.
Félix Faure, accompanied by several members of the government team, met with the leaders of SABIC Innovative Plastics, led by Jeroen Castelijn, site director at a meeting that has served to continue and strengthen the bonds that hold the two organizations in the field of training, research and knowledge transfer.
Proof of this is the renovation of educational cooperation agreement for the implementation of practices that have signed this morning.
During the meeting, four students from the summer internship program 2009 belonging to the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, explained how attendees have included duties and functions, their lines of work and professional skills related to their studies.
The program manager and director of Human Resources SABIC for Spain, Susana Saez Soler, has stressed the importance of practical training for university students for the university to the world of business, which will soon be incorporated definitely.
In this regard, Susana Saez has said that "in recent years, 80 students from the UPCT have participated in internship programs, with a percentage of contract at the end of formation of about 27 percent."
During the meeting, also made reference to the R + D + I sets and knowledge transfer activities involving employees of SABIC who teach at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, as well as the important work of advising and technical assistance offered by the university.
Jeroen Castelijn noted the excellent achievement for all students and the good results obtained in many projects.
He also recalled that the Summer Internship Program is an important tool to identify talent for the Company.
The visit was attended, by the Board of Governors of the UPCT, Francisco Martínez González, Vice Chancellor for Student and University Extension, Josefina García León, rector of Convergence and Quality; Antonio Vigueras Campuzano, vice teacher, Juan Patricio Castro Valdivia Vice Chancellor for Infrastructure, José Antonio Cascales Pujalte, Vice Chancellor for Planning and Coordination, Antonio Gabaldon Marín, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Jose Antonio Franco Leemhuis, Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, and Natividad Esther Sweet, manager.
On behalf of SABIC, has been present, besides those mentioned above, Mahua Sánchez, Asset Operations Leader Compounding; Juan Alemany, Ultem Operations Leader, and Vic Ignacio, Technology Manager.
