The students in the tailoring workshop call for more training in traditional crafts (18/10/2012)

The Sewing Workshop sponsored by the humanitarian organization "Project Abraham" and the Department of Social Policy of the City of Fuente Alamo has come to an end today with the presentation of diplomas in the auditorium of the Agricultural Center.

The Director General of Social Affairs, Gender and Immigration, Leopoldo Navarro, has accompanied the mayor of Fuente Alamo, Maria Antonia Conesa, and the councilor responsible for this area, Francisco Ginés García, at the close of the ceremony in which a dozen women have been accredited training in hemming, stitch or darning.

For the mayor, this workshop socio - occupational, 40 hours, shows that "traditional jobs that were booming years ago, now again have its prominence given the difficult economic circumstances we are living", so welcomed the initiative of the students want to continue learning other trades as "cobbler".

The Director General of Social Affairs also praised the willingness of the women participating in this workshop because "without being aware, you are setting an example to those who, before the crisis, they are driven by pessimism and stay locked at home."

He believed, moreover, that if they had many entities as "Project Abraham", "the crisis would be more bearable" because in addition to recycling, "generates money and jobs."

The organization's director, Rafael Sanchez, also featured in this closure that ended with the screening of a video showing how it takes advantage of used clothing and shoes that are deposited in the containers located throughout the municipality Fuente Alamo.
