José Ballesta said that "applying the knowledge generated by research is the best way to strengthen the competitiveness of companies in the region and add value to the scientific community"

The Minister for Universities and Research Company, José Ballesta, along with the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), Felix Faura, today opened the new Centre for Development and Technological Innovation (Cedit), located in the Technology Park Fuente Alamo.

This facility of 3,000 square meters, houses a dozen research and development laboratories and five other laboratories heavy.

The purpose of this building is to enhance the research and technological development and scientific relations between university and companies, both those that are located in the Technology Park and beyond.

The owner of Universities, Business and Research, said during the inauguration of the Centre, "to apply the knowledge generated by research is the best way to strengthen the competitiveness of companies in the region and add value to the scientific community."

Thus, the Centre for Development and Technological Innovation of the UPCT will become, explained Minister José Ballesta, "at the heart of the development of applied research talent to the company in the region."

To this end, researchers in these facilities provide network services for voice and data, current stabilized power generating systems and water production, crane and equipment cooling systems.

The rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Felix Faura, said the new building is added to the network of scientific and technological infrastructure of the UPCT and enable more competitive research groups of the university to give a new momentum towards an upward trajectory in scientific productivity.

Currently, there are already several research projects that are planned to be developed on site Cedit as an initiative to develop a radio communications system, one for the implementation of Internet-oriented mobile services, a system for heating and drying by microwave or a research project to apply to vehicles.

The Minister José Ballesta said that "research bet is to bet on the economic development of a region."

She stated that "currently there are five companies that have been installed in this center, from his relationship with the research groups of the UPCT".

These initiatives develop machinery for concrete products for security and defense companies, websites and mobile applications, home automation devices, GPS technology and virtual reality.

With this initiative, the regional government, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, continues in its efforts to promote the value chain of research, development and innovation as a strategy for strengthening the business sector.

"We have to exploit the synergies that arise between universities, researchers and businesses and make the Murcia Region a magnet for excellence in education, scientific and productive," concluded Jose Ballesta.

The regional government has funded with 1.3 million, managed by the UPCT, construction and provision of equipment to these laboratories, which have also received funding support from the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
