The II Contest of Drawing and Children's Murals "Trinidad García" presents its trophy reproduced by a 3D printer (26/02/2018)

Culture and technology have been shaking hands this morning in the presentation of the trophy that the La Magdalena Neighborhood Association will give to the winners of the II Contest of Drawing and Children's Murals "Trinidad García" with the theme of 'Nuestro Campo', where will participate for the first time, the schools of the municipality of Fuente Álamo.

The artist, Juan Pedro Esteban, has sculpted a scops owl that will be reproduced in a 3D printer by the Technological Research Support Service (SAIT).

After the success of last year, the second edition of the contest already has almost twenty registered schools in Cartagena and Fuente Álamo.

The Councilor for Education of the City of Fuente Alamo, Juan Lorenzo Mendoza, stressed the importance of the contest "to recover those drawing competitions that were once and recreated how schoolchildren perceived the field."

In addition, the Councilor for Education of the City of Cartagena, David Martinez, has highlighted the idea as "a way that children who live in the urban center also know all the rural areas that surround us and are part of our environment."

The image of the sculpture that Juan Pedro Esteban has made is the autillo, "an autochthonous bird of our zone in danger of extinction and that represents the wisdom", has explained, the president of the Association of Neighbors of the Magdalena, Ginesa García, organizing entity of the contest in collaboration with the Neighborhood Board of Marfagones Mills and the Association of Plastic Arts Pigments.

For his part, the director of SAIT, Isidro Ibarra, has exposed the process of printing the sculpture through the 3D printer they have in the Development Center in Technological Innovation (CEDIT), where it has been presented.

Even so, the director has highlighted "the application of engineering to the work of the artist, without this previous work of the people, technology has nothing to do".

The president of the Neighborhood Board of Molinos Marfagones, Antonio Bernal, also attended the ceremony;

Esperanza López, on behalf of the Pigmentos Association;

and the artist, Juan Pedro Esteban.

The inscription to the contest realizes through the schools, or of a single classroom or of several classes.
