The Civil Guard in the region of Murcia has developed the operation 'Krypton', an investigation to clarify the alleged kidnapping of the Web of a company, which has led to the arrest of a person suspected of committing the crimes of computer damage and extortion.
The investigation began when a merchant, based in Fuente Alamo, denounced the abduction of the Web of the company, by a person who also requested a ransom of 77 bitcoins (virtual currency) to reset it.
This computer attack caused several damages in the management of the company, which resulted in economic damage.
Specialists Team Telematic Crimes Civil Guard collected the necessary information and found out that it was a computer attack by using hacking techniques * that for several days, remained paralyzed the website of the company.
The various police investigations allowed the researchers to identify the address from which supposedly had been sent emails with intent to extort the company.
The investigation continued to identify the person responsible for computer hacking, a former employee who provided the information necessary to commit the crime under investigation.
After obtaining the necessary evidence, the Civil Guard has arrested a male, of Spanish nationality, 27 year-old resident of Fuente Alamo, person who is credited with authorship of the alleged crimes and extortion of computer damage.
The arrested, the computer involved and the proceedings initiated have been made available to the Court of Instruction No. 5 of Cartagena (Murcia).
